FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Napa, California - March 15, 2005
PRISMEDICAL announced today the award of a $2.8 million contract to miniaturize a system that can produce sterile saline at the point-of-use. The contract is the fourth and largest to date that the company has received from the Office of Naval Research (ONR). With the new award, PRISMEDICAL begins research and development of a system targeted for the corpsman/medic in trauma situations where evacuation of the casualty is delayed and the administration of IV saline at the point of injury is the only option for survival.
“This contract will extend our technology platform to provide a new medical capability not only for the military but also the Health and Human Services Department of Homeland Security in its effort to increase the “surge capacity” of the nation’s hospital system,” according to Mark Sizelove, President & Chief Executive Officer of PRISMEDICAL.
