PARA Membranes Partners with PRISMEDICAL Corporation, Introducing High-Flow Rate, Eco-Friendly Hollow Fiber Membrane Filter Technology to North America

American Canyon, CA and Gyeonggi-Do, South Korea – March 11, 2008 — Para Membranes, a South Korea-based hollow fiber membrane (HFM) manufacturer has entered into an exclusive strategic distribution relationship with PRISMEDICAL Corporation, a high technology California water purification company, for sales of Para Membranes’ patented HFM products. Para holds several patents for the manufacture of high quality HFM filters and PRISMEDICAL, which has been granted more than 23 patents, is currently launching the TRITON® M, a portable personal water purification system.

Para Membranes is the largest maker of hollow fiber filter products in South Korea and recently tripled its production capacity after commissioning a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in 2007. Para manufactures a wide range of fiber types including PES, PS and PVDF in hollow, pleated and spiral wound formats. The company’s’ fibers cover the filtration spectrum including particle, micro-filtration (MF), ultra-filtration (UF) and nano-filtration (NF), slated for second half of 2008. Para Membranes is an ISO 9001/2000, 14001/2004 certified company.

Para’s manufacturing process includes several unique benefits to industry:
A unique method of manufacturing which equally distributes pores (both numbers and size) to increase the membrane life capacity
A higher accuracy for circularly shaped pores on inner skin which leads to improved flow rate
A consistent thickness of fiber wall membrane which helps insure higher pressure resistance
A method to trap bacteria through smaller pores and allow for improved flow rate increases as holes get bigger

Besides advances in manufacturing processes, Para’s HFM technology is environmental friendly, since waste water run-off, typically 50% to 75% with reverse osmosis (RO), is nonexistent with Para’s HFM solution. In addition, the Para membrane solution does not discharge toxic brine back into the environment as RO systems do. Para microfiltration, ultrafiltration and nanofiltration products address harmful microbes while leaving valuable minerals humans need in the filtered water.

Para and PRISMEDICAL are also teaming to introduce new Para finished products to the market including innovative under-counter systems, above counter units for resident use as well as innovative, cost-effective “stackable” units for commercial and industrial use. These new products will be launched over the spring 2008 timeframe.

“We are looking forward to introducing our products to the US market with our partner PRISMEDICAL. With their knowledge of the US market and extensive new technology distribution experience, they are a great partner to help us reach our goal of being the largest producer of Hollow Fiber Membrane technology in the world,” said Mr. Yoon Ho Sung, CEO of PARA.

“We are very pleased to partner with Para Membranes, the preeminent manufacturer of hollow fiber membranes in South Korea,” said Mr. Stephen E. Pazian, CEO of PRISMEDICAL. ”With over two dozen quality check points in their new high speed manufacturing process, they make a very high quality product at a very attractive price,” he continued. PRISMEDICAL will be marketing Para branded as well as other finished water filtration products from companies that use Para components. The company will also pursue component HFM sales into the industrial, water cooler, above and below counter filter, shower, faucet and municipal water filtration markets.

PRISMEDICAL CORPORATION develops highly effective, portable, point-of-use water filtration and purification technologies for consumer and medical applications. PMC’s products have focused on emergency preparedness, outdoor enthusiast, travel and military applications. PMC leveraged its expertise to develop and launch the TRITON M, a new family of modular mobile water purification systems targeted at emergency preparedness, outdoor recreation, international travel and military/tactical/firefighter/first responder applications.

The two firms will introduce new products at the upcoming WQA show in Las Vegas March 26-28.
